The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive season. The twenty-seven-year-old captured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles title. A Season of Dominance Across the season, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final. The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year. This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015. Record-Breaking Statistics Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a record £11m in earnings. She earned nearly eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists. On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a greater prominence". Other WTA Award Honorees Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking extended hiatus after the birth of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season. Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and rising to world number 18. Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after winning their second Grand Slam title as a pair. Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five finals. Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third time.
