Shocking Recording Reveals Moment Police Suffer Blade Attacks in Ambush

The Two Senior Officers Instants Before the Attacker Received Electric Shock

One ranking policeman who rushed to the aid of a fellow officer that was assaulted by a knife attacker was granted the King's Commendation for Valor.

Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown following he placed a weapon to the neck of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the officers and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist following a vehicle incident in the area in July 2023.

Brown attacked with blade both Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a stun gun.

"Officer knifed," the officer could be heard saying over his communication device.

Bodyworn and dashcam recording made public by the police department showed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a head covered, rush to Sgt Foster from behind with a knife extended.

He ran into the officer who stumbled and dropped to the ground, before Sergeant Ansell jumped in and struggled to restrain him to the ground even though being continually attacked with the weapon.

PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a clear shot, bringing the confrontation to an finish.

Sgt Ansell was heard stating: "Please provide assistance on my throat here, I'm bleeding in the throat."

Sgt Ansell sustained multiple lacerations to his neck and further wounds to his limbs and body, whereas Sergeant Foster received knife wounds.

The department reported Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to control his fellow officer's bleeding prior to medical personnel arrived.

The latest recognition follows after the trio of policemen received departmental Valor Recognitions in October 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the area Police Federation in April 2024.

They were also awarded a North West Bravery Award in summer 2024.

"The efforts of the entire team in the end saved themselves and ensured no members of the public endured any wounds."

Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in April 2024, according to officials.
